The evolution of a chemical burn involves a variety of inflammatory processes including production of inflammatory mediators [4, 13-19] and dermal infiltration of polymorphonuclear cells . This was supported by the beneficial effect of anti-inflammatory agents such as olvanil and indomethacin against SM in the mouse ear edema model . A combination of iodine with steroidal (clobetasol) and nonsteroidal (piroxicam) anti-inflammatory agents led to improved therapeutic activity in the guinea pig skin irritation and mouse ear edema models . This kind of preparation also showed a beneficial effect in HF burns in guinea pigs (data not shown).
